eSailing World Championships
Tristan Peron of France claimed the eSailing World Championships title at the live final in Trieste with a dominant performance which left everyone else playing catch up.

Arthur Farley of Great Britain was second overall, 17 points behind, with Peron's compatriot Tim Carpentier, winner of the 2023 Olympic Esports Series, three points further back.

Peron was hunted in the second wave of races and his lead was cut to three points by Farley after the ninth, the second 49er contest, but won the 10th race in ILCAs to stretch his advantage back out to nine points.

A disqualification for three-time 49er world champion Bart Lambriex (NED) saw Peron promoted to first place in the penultimate race on Nacra 17s. That meant the Frenchman took a 13-point lead into the medal race, a J70 contest in which Peron comfortably held on to his place at the top of the overall table.

Peron will take a 5,000 USD prize back to France

ClubSwan Racing gets ready to close the 2023 season
The Nautor Swan Experience gathering in Scarlino will celebrate the entire Swan world from 10 to 15 October Swan One Design Worlds and the first ever Swan Med Regatta - The Tuscany Challenge held simultaneously from 10 to 14 October.

"This event marks the evolution of Nautor Swan over the past 25 years." -- Leonardo Ferragamo, Nautor Group President

The 2023 ClubSwan Racing season is set to sign-off in style with the Swan One Design Worlds and the first edition of the Swan Med Regatta - The Tuscany Challenge held simultaneously in the magnificent surroundings of Scarlino on the Tuscan coast of Italy (10-14 October).

Hosted by the Yacht Club Isole di Toscana, the Swan One Design Worlds will see four days of racing starting on Wednesday 11 October which will determine the world champions in the ClubSwan 50, ClubSwan 42 and ClubSwan 36 classes.

A coastal race is planned during the regatta which could include iconic local landmarks such as the islands of Cerboli and Palmaiola off Elba's east coast as racing marks, all against the backdrop of the famed Isle of Montecristo.

The event also marks the decider of The Nations League 2023, with all to play for. Marcus Brennecke's Hatari (GER) tops the ClubSwan 50 table though Andrea Lacorte's Vitamina (ITA) is within striking distance, while Pedro Vaquer Comas' Nadir (ESP) and Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio's G Spot (ITA) hold only narrow leads in the ClubSwan 42 and ClubSwan 36 classes respectively.

National Yacht Club Seeks Expressions of Interest for 2023 Winter Match Racing League
Ireland's National Yacht Club is seeking expressions of interest from members as it plans another winter match racing series for 2023.

Starting the weekend of 21 October, the series will run for six to eight weeks — doubling the scope of last year's series raced in the club's own fleet of Elliott 6m one-design keelboats.

As interest is growing in match racing, the NYC says it can facilitate two sessions across the weekend based on demand.

Preference will go to NYC members and those who are entering as a team. In the past, Sunday mornings have been popular, but if demand is there, a second session can be scheduled later on Sundays or on Saturdays.

Prospective match racers are encouraged to fill out this online survey to express your interest. Any questions should be directed to .

International Etchells Cowes Fleet Ice Bucket
The closing regatta of the Cowes Etchells fleet, the Ice Bucket, was raced over the weekend of 7/8 Oct. Being the final regatta, with a somewhat wintry name, the fleet was reduced to 6 starters. Racing on Saturday however was truly champagne. 14-16 kts from the west, sunshine, but a choppy sea. The CCYC race team ran three quick races, all of which were tight, and intense. On the Sunday, conditions were warm and still, and no races were completed.

Across the season we have seen some truly excellent Youth teams [U29] competing, and it was great to see Ted Blowers and the Audrey team take first place on the basis of the Saturday results. This is worth recognition of the contribution of Ted's various Audrey teams, and Shaun Frolich's Exabyte team were graceful in defeat by final race rank only.

Highly competitive Youth teams are an integral part of Etchells Cowes, and we were happy to have teams from RTYC on Mano, and from Edinburgh Universities on Man's Best Friend, skippered by Oliver Maclean.

"Ice Bucket was our third event in the Etchells, after doing both Cowes Week and the Nationals. We have loved every part of Etchells, from the Cowes set up, the racing, coaching and quality of events has been top notch. We are doing this primarily alongside our university sailing which is a lot to balance but it is great to get to know a class that could be a great option once we graduate.

We were extremely happy to have Andrew "Dog" Palfrey donate some world class coaching to the fleet over the weekend. Dog put together a quite incredible package of video, photo and analysis from the Rib Saturday, then held a masterclass feedback session on Sunday. The detail, insight and utility was greatly appreciate by all. Thank you Dog, the Legend. -- Dave Maclean

Warsash Open meeting and British Finn Association Traveller Series finale report, 7-8th October
23 Finns turned out for the final event of the British Finn Travellers series, traditionally hosted by Warsash Sailing Club.

The weather on the Saturday morning was unseasonably warm and sunny, and sailing out to the Solent race course it looked like the promise of a 15-17 knot south westerly was going to be a little over-optimistic. With the forecast of a lot less breeze on Sunday, PRO Nigel Russell wisely opted to run 4 races on Saturday, which proved a good call. By the time the fleet gathered off Solent Breezes and the course set for the 12.30 start the wind was up to a steady 15 knots with a lumpy sea building with the flood tide.

By the final fourth race, there were many pairs of legs screaming for a rest and the exhilarating downwinds provided an all too brief respite, as the upper body took more of the load but the legs were still needed to keep you upright. It was noticeable that whilst there were several swims spotted in the Hadron fleet, the more substantial Finns all remained firmly vertical!

Grand Master Lawrence Crispin maintained his dominance of the fleet to record his third win of the day, this time just holding off the energetic James Downer who worked hard on his drop pumping downwind to claim second place. Great Grand Master Kristian proved his underlying fitness in third and Master Kieron Holt, who also scored his best result of the day, as the younger sailors climbed the fleet – underlining the subtle balance of experience and fitness that makes sailing a Finn such a rewarding experience.

Sunday's forecast proved accurate and the two fleets were treated to another hot but sadly windless morning at the 9.00 am briefing.

This left Lawrence Crispin as the clear winner with a perfect scoreline after discarding his OCS, ahead of Kristian Sjoberg on 8 points and Class Secretary Simon Percival in third with 11, equal points with Jim Downer in fourth. The points were close throughout the fleet, underlining the high level of competition in the UK Finn Class, which despite the loss of Olympic status still attracts the best sailors who appreciate the rewards of this thoroughbred pinnacle of single-handed sailing.
